The first one is a *must join* if you are a UK academic involved in virtual worlds; the other two are more optional.

The JISCMail Virtual Worlds mailing list has a low level of traffic, and is pitched at the UK academic virtual world community.

The SLED (Second Life Educators) mailing list is global in reach. Though focused on Second Life, discussion of other virtual worlds occurs regularly. A high level of traffic.

The OpenSim Educators mailing list is global in reach, and also new as of autumn 2011.

It’s been noticeable at UK virtual world events that a high proportion of the speakers and audience are actively tweeting (at one such event in April 2009, this included 23 out of the 25 speakers).
